“Make light of it – hint at the issue without criticising,” says Towner. So how do you deal with the overfilled recycling bins/uncut hedge/falling-down fence? “Once, I said to this person: how did it start? Good neightbours are the holy grail: go a hundred miles before you have a row with them. But the restaurant should be sympathetic to that, take it away and bring you an alternative.” It’s the same with wine: if you order a glass of something and realise straight away that you don’t like it, any good restaurant will replace it. If something doesn’t taste right, it may be just too salty or whatever for your taste. Don’t just plunge in by going on about how bad it is give staff the chance to explain why something is as it is. “Remember that servers are people, and sugar is always better than vinegar. “Be conciliatory, never aggressive,” advises Yin. If you’re told there’s no extra money in the coffers, think about the whole package. So the extra £3,000 you’re asking for is good value compared with the £5,000 they’ll spend on recruiting and training someone new. Women, in particular, often need a confidence boost, so think about it like this: if you end up leaving, your employer will probably spend more on replacing you. “What’s the added value you’re bringing to your organisation? Have you taken on extra responsibility, or learned new skills?” The crucial thing, she says, is to talk about the value you bring. The key element is to work out how much you want, and go into the conversation believing you’re worth it. “Many people think the stakes are higher when they’re talking to someone more senior, but why should that be the case?” If you’re worried about talking to your boss, unpack that. Ask yourself why, says executive career and leadership coach Denise Chilton. In order to avoid your LTV reaching this level, you will be asked to repay the loan early or provide additional collateral. Typically, when you take out a crypto loan, you will have a liquidation LTV. If the price of Bitcoin dropped to $7,500, your LTV would increase to 66.6%. For example, if you provide $10,000 worth of Bitcoin as collateral to borrow $5,000 worth of USDT, your LTV would be 50%. This is why anyone who has some funds in their Ethereum wallet can go to a protocol like Aave or Maker and borrow crypto without any authorization being required.Īn important concept to understand is called the LTV ratio, or loan-to-value ratio. One of the benefits of overcollateralization is that the lender doesn’t need to perform any background checks or assess your creditworthiness. In DeFi, you’ll most often find lending protocols that require overcollateralization, for example Aave and Maker. This means that the value of the collateral must be higher than the value of the funds that are being borrowed. In many cases, cryptocurrency lenders require overcollateralization. This introduces additional risk - if the value of your collateral drops too much during the duration of the loan, you might be required to provide additional collateral to avoid liquidation. Often, borrowers provide volatile crypto assets such as Bitcoin or Ethereum as collateral. If you fail to repay your loan, the lender will sell your collateral in order to cover their loss - this process is called liquidation. There are very good reasons why anyone who’s willing to lend you crypto will require you to provide collateral. Why is collateral required for crypto loans? In other words, if you’re a regular user, you won’t be able to get any benefits from flash loans. However, flash loans have practically nothing in common with traditional loans, and using them requires in-depth knowledge of smart contract programming and how the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) functions. Flash loans can be accessed through certain decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, most notably Aave. This can be done through flash loans, which is a type of on-chain loan in which the borrower receives cryptocurrency without having to provide collateral so long as the funds are returned within the same block. Thanks to smart contracts, it’s actually possible to get a crypto loan without having to provide any collateral. Flash loans - the only type of crypto loan without collateral that’s available Reuters said that “most out the the 11 lenders” they interviewed in September 2022 still engaged in unsecured crypto lending.Įven though some companies still provide unsecured crypto loans, they are lending funds to other companies and institutional investors, not the average cryptocurrency user. However, some firms in the crypto industry still practice unsecured lending despite the turmoil in 2022. This activity is quite risky - in fact, unsecured crypto lending between cryptocurrency companies was one of the factors that contributed to the 2022 cryptocurrency market crash.Īccording to Reuters, now-bankrupt crypto companies such as Voyager, Three Arrows Capital, BlockFi and Celsius were among the crypto industry players that engaged in unsecured loans. The only exception are flash loans, which we’ll touch on a little further on in the article.Ĭrypto lending without collateral, which is also called unsecured lending, is only done among cryptocurrency companies that have large amounts of capital. We haven’t been able to find any platforms, centralized or decentralized, where a retail crypto investor can get a crypto loan without providing some sort of collateral. There are no crypto loans without collateral for the average user In most cases, they still need to provide some collateral, although it doesn’t have to be in the form of cryptocurrency. Anyone who’s offering you a no-collateral crypto loan is likely trying to scam you in some way and we suggest you avoid any such “opportunities”.Įven businesses and trading firms who want to get a crypto loan without crypto collateral usually need to go through an approval process before they can get the loan. If you’re a normal user and not a business or institutional trading firm, you’ll have to provide collateral in order to borrow crypto. However, businesses can sometimes access crypto loans without having to provide crypto collateral (on platforms like Goldfinch, borrowers provide off-chain assets as collateral). The average user cannot get a crypto loan without collateral, unless we are talking about flash loans, which are very different from traditional loans. If there’s anything I can do to make this right again, just ask. I have no idea how this came to be, but I want you to know that it was never our intention. I want you to know that I’m always here to help if you need me.
Richard drove a white van that seemed to match the description of the van spotted by one of the witnesses at the scene. Investigators had few other clues to go on in the months that followed other than a profile from the FBI urging them to look for someone with a history of violence who would also be obsessed with the case.Īuthorities did believe they had one promising lead and took a closer look at Richard, the last customer at the convenience store before Allen disappeared. “They noticed somebody driving very erratically, wrestling or struggling with somebody in a van,” said Reuel Todd, undersheriff at the time of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office. Others reported seeing a van, described as either blue or white, at the convenience store around the time of the disappearance. When Richard heard Allen was missing, he called the sheriff’s office to report seeing the teen at the store early that morning. The concerned customers quickly flagged down a deputy and the search began for the missing 18-year-old, whose body has still never been found. “I told her, ‘Have a nice day,'” he recalled.īy the time other customers arrived at the gas station, Allen was gone - although her car still remained parked in the lot. He told “Dateline: Secrets Uncovered” that he remembered buying two packs of cigarettes. Richard Thibodeau had been her last customer that morning before she mysteriously vanished from the store. “He would take her so that she wasn’t alone until people, you know, like the traffic was picking up, and then he would go,” her sister Lisa Buske explained. The 18-year-old, who worked part-time while in college, had opened the store at about 5:45 that morning after taking the shift for another coworker, according to “Dateline: Secrets Uncovered.” Her boyfriend was there with her to start the day, but left as the store was getting busier. InDesign creates a table of contents using Paragraph Styles, which are formatting templates for text and also allow InDesign to keep track of where text is in the document. Setting up your document with Paragraph Styles If you’re working on a long, complex document, it’s possible to set up your document so that InDesign finds and enters your section titles and page numbers for you. Automatically generating your table of contents Scroll to the next section of this tutorial to learn how to format and add dot leaders (the “…” between section titles and page numbers in a table of contents). Type out the page number next to the section title with just a space in between. Manually entering your informationįor short documents, such as this example, it’s easiest to just type in your chapter or section titles and scroll through your document to find the page number (pro tip – scroll through the ‘Pages’ navigation pane to see the page number rather than scrolling through your document). Our table of contents will list the sections and sub-sections along with the page numbers they appear on. There are two ways you can get this information: 1. The rest of the pages are front and back covers, the insides of the covers, and acknowledgements. Notice that Section Two, “Cats Are So Fluffy,” also has three sub-sections, “Short Fluffy,” “Medium Fluffy,” and “Long Fluffy.” At the front I’ve set aside a blank page for the table of contents. In this tutorial, we’re going to learn how to make a table of contents (sometimes abbreviated to ToC) for this example document, a booklet about cats: Selecting a region changes the language and/or content on InDesign is a great tool for layout and design of multi-page documents. In summary, each page on the innermost sheet is moved 12 points (half of the 24-point creep value for this sheet) away from the spine, each page on the third sheet is moved 8 points (half of the 16-point creep value for this sheet) away from the spine, and each page on the second sheet is moved 4 points (half of the 8-point creep value for this sheet) away from the spine. The amount of creep for each successive sheet is decreased by the creep increment. No creep will be applied to the first outermost sheet. The amount of creep applied to the innermost sheet is 24 points, the amount of creep applied to the third sheet is 16 points, and the amount of creep applied to the second sheet is 8 points. If the creep value in this example is 24 points (an exaggerated amount for the sake of clarity), the creep increment is 8 points per sheet (24 divided by 3). The front of the first sheet will consist of the first printer spread (pages 16 and 1) while the back of the first sheet will consist of the second printer spread (pages 2 and 15). When you provide a negative creep, the cover is not adjusted, but the pages on the inner sheets move toward the spine.įor example, a 16-page InDesign document could yield eight printer spreads, or four sheets. When you provide a positive creep value, the centerfold is not adjusted, but the pages on the outer sheets move away from the spine. The creep increment is calculated by dividing the specified creep value by the total number of sheets minus one. The term sheet represents two printer spreads: the front of the sheet and the back of the sheet. InDesign considers the “cover” of the final piece to be the outermost printer spread, while the “centerfold” is considered to be the innermost printer spread.
General Hearsey ordered another Indian soldier to arrest Mangal Pandey, but the soldier refused. Rebellion broke out after a soldier, called Mangal Pandey, attacked a British sergeant and wounded an adjutant while his regiment was in Barrackpore. They did not give any respect to old royal houses of India like the Mughals (nominally Emperors of India) and the Peshwas (the most powerful of the Maratha rulers, leaders of the Maratha Confederacy).Įvents "Attack of the Mutineers on the Redan Battery at Lucknow, July 30, 1857" Mutiny Memorial in Jhansi, 1900 Lord Dalhousie was the Governor General who decided to do this, which was against Hindu customs. ĭuring the 1850s the British rulers continued to take some regions forcibly, ruled by Indians and made these regions (for example: the kingdom of Agra and Oudh, part of the present day Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, which was seized in 1856) part of the British kingdom. On January 27, Colonel Richard Birch ordered that no cartridges should have grease on them, and that Sepoy could grease them with whatever they wanted. Hindu soldiers were angry because they believed the cartridges had cow fat in them. This was because Muslims believe that pigs are unclean. The Muslims were angry because they thought that the paper cartridges had pig fat in them. The cartridges that were used in the new rifles had to be bitten open. The immediate event which angered the Sepoy was about the ammunition for the new rifles they had to use were Enfield rifles. Moreover, the Bengal Army was paid less than the Madras and Bombay Armies, which increased their fears over pensions. This applied only to recruits, but older Sepoy suspected that it might apply to those already in service. Another financial grievance stemmed from the general service act, which denied retired Sepoy a pension. As the East India Company expanded, soldiers were now expected to serve in less familiar regions, such as in Burma, and also to make do without the “foreign service” remuneration they had got previously. There were some changes in the terms of their service, which may have created resentment. The domination of higher castes in the Bengal Army has been blamed in part for the initial mutinies that led to the rebellion. In contrast, the Madras Army and Bombay Army were “more localized, caste-neutral armies” that “did not prefer high-caste men”. They cut back the enlistment of lower castes in 1855. The Bengal Army recruited higher castes, such as Rajputs and Bhumihar brahmins. The make-up of these armies varied from region to region. The forces were divided into three presidency armies: Bombay, Madras, and Bengal. Before the Rebellion, there were 50,000 British troops, and 300,000 Sepoy serving in the East India Company military. The causes of the mutiny are hard to pin down, and have been much argued about. Sepoy in the Presidency of Bengal revolted against their British officers. The Indian Rebellion of 1857, also called the Great Indian Event of 1857, the Indian Mutiny, the Sepoy Mutiny, India's First War of Independence, or India's First Struggle for Independence, began on at Meerut as a mutiny of Sepoy of the British East India Company's army. Hybrid electric vehicles, where electric motors are used as a supplementary propulsion to internal combustion engines, became more widespread in the late 1990s. Internal combustion engines (both gasoline and diesel engines) were the dominant propulsion mechanisms for cars and trucks for about 100 years, but electricity-powered locomotion remained commonplace in other vehicle types, such as overhead line-powered mass transit vehicles like electric trains, trams, monorails and trolley buses, as well as various small, low-speed battery-powered personal vehicles such as mobility scooters. Using electricity was among the preferred methods for motor vehicle propulsion as it provides a level of quietness, comfort and ease of operation that could not be achieved by the gasoline engine cars of the time, but range anxiety due to the limited energy storage offered by contemporary battery technologies hindered any mass adoption of private electric vehicles throughout the 20th century. Įarly electric vehicles first came into existence in the late 19th century, when the Second Industrial Revolution brought forth electrification. Together with other emerging automotive technologies such as autonomous driving, connected vehicles and shared mobility, EVs form a future vision of transportation called Connected, Autonomous, Shared and Electric (CASE) mobility. In the April meeting of the Iowa chapter of the International Cesarean Awareness Network, chapter leader Rachel Bruns cited statistics of VBACs (vaginal birth after cesarean) and cesarean births in the state. “We have to work on the nurse midwifery situation in this state,” Pedron said. One solution? Increasing midwife-led care. It’s not just treat and street.” There’s no silver bullet to improve pregnancy outcomes of Black and Brown women, but there are known solutions. But what are we doing to improve our ability to help with that in the moment? It’s on us. “Yes, absolutely patients can and should do things to improve their ability to maneuver health care systems. Sabbath Schrader, registered nurse at Broadlawns, argued that ultimately the burden falls on providers to recognize the needs and wants of the patient. We have to be mindful of people’s life situations.”īy doing that, health care providers also have the responsibility to help educate patients so they can make informed decisions and advocate for themselves. “It’s easy for a provider to say, ‘Pick up this prescription and come back in or give me a call if you have issues,’ but we often don’t take transportation or reliable phones into account. Sarah Bradbury, a certified nurse midwife at Broadlawns, emphasized the importance of providers being aware of barriers. It would focus on solutions to the maternal mortality crisis. It would center Black birthing people, and the joy in Black parenthood.
